Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is well-suited for patients who’ve lost one to three adjacent teeth. Typically, it’s made up of two (or more) crowns to either side of a “pontic” (i.e., an artificial tooth). This setup means it relies on nearby natural teeth for support. Once placed, a bridge will act as a fixed restoration and alter the structure of existing teeth. The device could then last for over a decade if it’s well-maintained.

Dentures

Dentures work quite well for those with major tooth loss. They always consist of several artificial teeth set in an acrylic, gum-colored base. Otherwise, dentures come in two possible types: partial or full. Partial ones only replace a few teeth and depend on a metal or acrylic framework. In contrast, full dentures fit snugly over the gums and restore a whole arch of teeth at once.

Dental Implants

Dental implants now stand as the gold standard for tooth replacement. Unlike dentures or dental bridges, they’re small metallic posts placed in your jawbone. They slowly fuse with the bone tissue and become permanent parts of your mouth. In doing so, they act as substitute tooth roots – steady, unmoving, and secure. Dental implants are thus more lifelike than other dental prosthetics.
